She really is the bestest friend ever.

I was in a really dark place 5 years, but I won't go into detail, but then I met Mika on my first time attending a convention, and I wouldn't be who I am today if not for her. She has the purest heart of gold, she will have your back always and will be right there defending you. I couldn't ask for a better friend than her. She means the world to me and I have grown so much in the past 5 years because of her, so I have endless thanks to her

I think she'd love a print of Impatience

Because she pointed it out right away when she saw it at London Expo saying she really liked it, plus it reminds me of how adorkable she can be when she does something accidental xD

I would love a print of Bulletproof

Because it's a perfect representation of myself, cutting out the people who have been nothing but a circle of negativie atmosphere for me, knocking me down at every chance. But now that they have have, I grow stronger by the day and feel like nothing could possibly stop me with their words.

Just a quick update journal to say that while I haven't been away and have still be active in terms of faving/commenting and chatting to everyone, I am still practicing my own style with drawing.

I did take a hiatus...a long long hiatus.

But I'll be back properly once I'm confident enough in what I've done.

It's just taking a long while...

Confidence issues, etc...

This is following on from the previous journal: A response to Tumblr

I know I've done wrong in drawing other artist's work.

And yes, there's been times where I've traced. I'm not proud of it, and never will be. Though there really is some where I haven't traced, 100% genuine...but again that's still as bad since it's copying.

I always am struggling to find my own style, it's an ongoing process but I've never been confident in showing it off to anyone, so I tend to draw what I'm looking at.

When I was pretty young, I had this little diary/notepad book which was only about 5-6 inches tall and it had a full body shot of Bugs Bunny on the front, and I drew him onto A4 just from looking at him as I drew but keeping the proportions right, and it's actually uploaded on here.

That was just something I was able to do. So when it came to me first starting out here on dA. I dropped doing that, wanting to draw properly without looking at anything, and it started ok, but it quickly dwindled and I only felt comfortable drawing again by doing what I did before, by looking at source pics and drawing them on a different scale. So yes, all this time I've lost sight of what I've wanted to do on here and have my own style, and explains the sudden increase in quality...and of course the times I've traced.

I can't apologise enough to everyone here or is visiting because of all this, but especially the artists of the source pics.

But from now, I promise to do everything now in my own style, even if it means starting right back at stick-figures and building up from that to find it.

I need to take a moment to make this journal entry to address something that's happened overnight...

So if you're here because of Tumblr, hello and please bare with me first while I explain to everyone else.

It's been drawn attention on Tumblr with a long post that says that I trace and various other things too and the whole post can be seen here

So I'd like to address the whole post here, especially for those visiting from Tumblr who won't be able to see my reply on their dashboard.

So I’m gonna go through every point said in the long post (and anything additional from reblogs) as best as I can:

1) No source on the Tsubasa drawing.

Yeah that was completely my bad and I fully apologise for that (especially after saying that I would source all my drawings), my only defence for that was that I uploaded it from my mobile so I couldn’t source it properly when it first went up and I should’ve edited it in once I was on the computer. And I know that’s not gonna be treated as a valid excuse so again I fully accept that one.

2) The KO Cosplay part.

a) No it’s not traced, and this is gonna end up being the recurring theme in the rest of this answer. So you can believe what you want, I know I didn’t trace it. To be honest, I’d feel the same as most of you do if it was me seeing this about someone else. But again, I know I didn’t trace it, and if I was guilty of tracing, after the signal boost that this whole thing has got, I would admit it right here and now that I had done that.

b) The car crash…actually yes I did know about an accident she was in, and I’ve been buying her prints and supporting her for a long time, even being a part of the funding to make it possible for her to attend the Fighters Cause special photoshoot.

3) The Halloween Sora drawing.

I actually sourced that one when it was uploaded. And it wasn’t even the one provided in the long post. This is the image I used which is official art. So whoever drew that image provided in the long post has done exactly the same thing before me.

4) The KH 1.5 Sora

Yeah it’s official artwork, but again it’s not traced as I was looking at my wall scroll of it while it’s been hanging on my wall. Again, you can believe as you see fit.

5) The SoKai drawing

When I first uploaded it on dA, I didn’t know who the original artist was as I’ve had that image saved to my computer for absolute ages and it didn’t have the wording, the KH logo or the url on the bottom. That’s why when I orignally uploaded it, I asked in the description if anyone could find it for me so I could put it in the description afterwards, to which someone very kindly commented with it and I promptly placed it in the description afterwards. So no, I didn’t have permission for the pure sake I didn’t know who the original artist was, so I apologise for that one.

7) The whole “commissions” thing

This is the one that’s getting a lot of people confused. Because you’re getting the impression that I am selling these. I mean, yes there was that period of time when I did the t-shirts that was mentioned and I had already admitted I was wrong in doing that. However that was years ago now, I only did a few back then and I have never ever done any since, nor have I had any commissions for any drawings at all. So since that little moment of stupidity, I have not done anything for profit.

Overall, I can only repeat the point I made above, you can believe what you want whether I’ve traced or not, and I know you probably feel like I have…

But hand on heart and swearing on my life, I don’t trace. If I did, I’d say I did right now, but I can’t. I’m not delusional, I know from right and wrong, and I apologise for the mistakes I’ve made in trying to make sure I’ve done the right thing in sourcing properly.

So I know there’s likely nothing in all this that has changed your minds, and there’s nothing I can do about this spreading any further, I can only say what’s what.

That is my response, and I can't really say any more on the matter. I'm not trying to play the victim, I'm just wanting to set records straight.

As of yesterday (13th July), I have now been on deviantART for 5 whole years!!



To think that I'm only here because of being suggested to join by a friend at the time.

And now here I am 5 years later still at it and always a joy coming on here everyday!

It's fair to say that when I first joined, I wasn't great by any means, I mean look....

These are just a few of the first things I uploaded on Day 1 of being on here...ugh, could barely stand to look at these getting the thumbnails for them...

But I progressed...

And it got to that point where I was always asked or accused about tracing what I drew...but I never did, and I never will.

I tried drawing real people (albeit in cosplay) for the first time...

Sure it knocked my confidence at the time and I never went back to those kind of drawings for a long while, but I still never gave up drawing...

I drew for friends to keep them (even if I wasn't comfortable drawing certain things)...

I took myself out of my comfort zone a few times, when Colors 3D was released on 3DS, and pixel art on Minecraft...

     

Then comes this year, when after still being comfortable with what I did, went back to drawing real people again...

   

And I am so much happier with what I can do now!

So these past 5 years have had their ups and downs, but to see I've gone from this...

I have met so many amazing people on here who I will cherish forever in knowing, and I wish I could meet every single one of them at some point! I also wanna say thanks to them all because there were times when I probably could have easily left dA but didn't because of them. So here's everyone I cherish!
